this is best served as a backup phone to a better backup phone if your main phone goes on the blink. no more updates and a shocking internal storage means it's really not worth inserting a sd card due to hardly anything you will use the phone for anymore. The camera spec is decent and good images taken.

sorry, for late review;
i brought this mobile in April 2011 and used up to May 2016. phone works smoothly through out this years. thank you, samsung for this good phone.
i changed mobile because its have old version of android and new app required higher version of android.

Thanks for Allah, I still have the phone in good shape, but I do take care for phones, it is always in a case, I never throw it off in work site or mix it with keys or any hard objects in pockets, I never put it in rear pocket. I take care for 4 things, my lady, my car, my clothes and my PE.. most important my lady... I am looking for one young pretty soul mate.. :) serious, no joke!!

I had a lot of fun fun with this phone. Low on memory but did a decent job overall. I used this phone for back-up. But now, it finally died on me. Sent for repair, the serviceman said its not worth the price to have such an old phone for repair.

While Cyanogen Mod 12 is already in, devices like Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 shouldn’t feel dejected as for all those users who have already rooted can now update their devices with the latest version of CM 11 which ropes in the KitKat 4.4.2 Android OS. While Google still fixes the issues on the latest Android 5.0 firmware, till then one can install this new update in their devices. This is based on the original CM 11 based OS which comes with the better performance with the stock android experience. So let’s check out on what are the detailed steps which will help you upgrade the device.
Note: This update can only be applied on the GT-S5830 variant of Galaxy Ace which can be checked from the path “Settings > About phone”.
Pre Requisites:
- Create a backup of all the data with the help of below mentioned steps manually which includes;
SMS – Download SMS Backup & Restore app and create the backup. Once done, transfer the backup file to your computer,
Call Log – Download Cal log Backup & Restore app and create the backup. Once done, transfer the backup file to your computer,
Local Files – Transfer all the data like photos, downloads, music files, videos etc. to your computer,
- Now making sure that your device is left with the minimum of 50% battery life, enable the USB Debugging mode in your device from Settings > Developer Options. If you can’t see the Developer Options, tap multiple times on “About phone”.
Let’s proceed to the next step where we have summed up the detailed steps to apply this firmware update.
Procedure:
- Download “Root Checker” app from Google Play Store to check on whether the device is rooted or not. Also, make sure that device is factory unlocked. Download ROM Manager from Google PLAY Store and install the latest custom recovery image.
- Download the below mentioned files in your computer and transfer the same to your device.
- Connect your device to the computer with original USB cable and without extracting, place the above mentioned zip files in your computer. Once done, you now need to place the files in the root main folder itself in your device.
- Disconnect your device to enter the device in the recovery mode. Press Volume Up + Home and Power button together to see the Galaxy Ace text. Release all three buttons at the same time so as to enter the device in the recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, with the help of volume buttons, you need to select “Wipe Data/ Factory Reset” and choose yes to confirm the same
- Now, in recovery menu you will have to select “Advanced” and then choose “Wipe Dalvik Cache” for wiping all the data in your device.
- Once done, select “install zip from sd card” to choose the cm-11-20131227-UNOFFICIAL-cooper++XR.zip file which you have earlier placed this file in your device. Once selected, it will take around 3 -4 minutes for applying the update. Once done, device will either reboot or will land back to the recovery mode screen.
- Select “go back” and select “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode. Please note that it will take around 1-5 minutes for rebooting the device. Please note that in some cases it may take longer time than expected.
Once done, you need to head over to the path “Settings > About Phone” to check on whether the device is updated with KitKat 4.4.2 Android OS or not. Do let us know in the comments section just in case if you face any issues in the process.
